Fort Purbrook Activity Centre is a historic family‑friendly outdoor adventure and activity facility set in a restored fort on Portsdown Hill. Among its many activities is indoor bouldering in The Cellars — two purpose‑built, underground bouldering rooms. These bouldering walls offer a fun and challenging climbing experience suitable for children and adults, beginners and more experienced climbers alike. The centre is also widely used for group activities, school trips, and parties. 

🥘 Food & Drink: There is no dedicated climbing café on‑site, but Fort Purbrook provides refreshment and picnic areas where visitors can eat and drink between activities. General onsite facilities include picnic spots and seating. 

🅿️ Parking: Free parking is available for guests on the estate, including standard and accessible spaces. Parking provides easy access to the activity centre from Portsdown Hill Road. 

Gym / Climbing Wall

 • The Cellars are two indoor purpose‑built bouldering walls accessed via historic underground tunnels — one Boulder Room and one Training Room with varied terrain and angles. 

 • Boulder Room: ~700 sq ft with 45° panels, wave features, slabs, cracks, arêtes and an 8‑ft roof section. 

 • Training Room: ~700 sq ft with a 5‑sided 16‑ft tower, curved wall, roof sections, chimney and overhangs. 

 • Walls are routinely updated with new routes and challenges by staff (route resets). 

 • The Cellars are suitable for both junior and adult boulderers and are open to group bookings as well as the public.

  • Under 18 ~£5.50

 • Monthly Membership:

  • Adults ~£36.00

 • Group Booking Custom Pricing: Available for tailored group sessions — contact the centre to arrange.

Saturday & Sunday: ~09:00 – ~13:00
