Ravelin Sports Centre is a modern multi‑sport leisure complex operated by the University of Portsmouth that is open to the public, students, staff and local community. It features a substantial indoor climbing wall and bouldering area rising from the basement up through the building, with routes and problems suitable for beginners through experienced climbers. Supervised sessions and induction options are provided for safe climbing access. 

🥘 Food & Drink: Café facilities are available within the sports centre serving hot and cold drinks, snacks and light refreshments for climbers and visitors. 

🅿️ Parking: Underground car park at the centre with customer parking (including disabled spaces); step‑free access across facilities. 

Gym / Climbing Wall

 • Indoor climbing wall approx. 10 m wide and up to ~10.85 m high with multiple auto‑belays and varied routes. 

 • Bouldering area ~120 m² reaching ~4 m high with problems ranging B (Beginner) to V7. 

 • 8 auto‑belays with three routes each on the main wall. 

 • Routes graded from approx. 3+ to 7c on the main climbing wall. 

 • Staff supervision and instruction are provided during all sessions; inductions are required for first‑time users. 

Membership / Entry / Pricing

 • Ultimate Membership: Climbing included; full access to centre facilities — gym, pool, classes, climbing. 

 • Core / Super Membership: Tiered membership options with climbing available at reduced session rates. 

 • Pay‑As‑You‑Go Climbing Sessions (1.5 hrs): Adult ~£11.00; Junior ~£9.50 (subject to change). 

 • Climbing Induction Session: Usually ~£7.50 (required first visit). 

 • Minimum climber age is 7 years; under‑18s must be supervised by an adult who has completed an induction. 

Opening Times

Monday – Friday: ~06:30 – 22:30 (centre facilities) 

Saturday – Sunday: ~07:00 – 21:00 (centre facilities)
